Lateral length scales in exchange bias

چکیده
– When a ferromagnet is in proximity to an antiferromagnet, lateral length scales such as the respective magnetic domain sizes drastically affect the exchange bias. Bilayers of FeF2 and either Ni, Co or Fe are studied using SQUID and spatially resolved MOKE. When the antiferromagnetic domains are larger than or comparable to the ferromagnetic domains, a local, non-averaging exchange bias is observed. This gives rise to unusual and tunable magnetic

Relevance of length scales in exchange biased submicron dots
Strong dot-size dependence of the positive exchange bias onset with the cooling field was found in Ni /FeF2 exchange biased nanostructures. With increasing cooling field, the sign of the exchange bias field changes from negative to coexistence of positive and negative, and eventually to positive. As the structure size decreases, the lower limit of cooling fields necessary for only positive exch...
متن کاملNanoscale control of exchange bias with BiFeO3 thin films.
We demonstrate a direct correlation between the domain structure of multiferroic BiFeO3 thin films and exchange bias of Co 0.9Fe 0.1/BiFeO3 heterostructures. Two distinct types of interactions - an enhancement of the coercive field ( exchange enhancement) and an enhancement of the coercive field combined with large shifts of the hysteresis loop ( exchange bias) - have been observed in these het...
متن کاملEstimation of salinity, heat and buoyancy budgets of the inflow coastal current into the Persian Gulf from the Strait of Hormuz
An analytical model for a coastal boundary current was used to investigate heat and salt budget of exchange flows in the Persian Gulf as a marginal sea. Coastal boundary currents exchange heat and freshwater with the mosphere and the offshore waters. As heat and salinity fluxes caused by air-sea interaction and eddy activities, different temperature and salinity associated with boundary current...
متن کاملGrey scales uncover similar attentional effects in homonymous hemianopia and visual
Multi-component models of visual hemi-neglect have postulated that visual hemi-neglect is characterised by various attentional deficits. A grey scales task has been developed to quantify the early, automatic, (perhaps obligatory) ipsilesional orienting of visual attention, frequently assumed as the first of these attentional deficits. Explanations for this attentional imbalance are up until now...
متن کاملA new species of the genus Capoeta Valenciennes, 1842 from the Caspian Sea basin in Iran (Teleostei, Cyprinidae)
A new species of algae-scraping cyprinid of the genus Capoeta Valenciennes, 1842 is described from the Kheyroud River, located in the southern part of the Caspian Sea basin in Iran. The species differs from other members of this genus by a combination of the following characters: one pair of barbels; predorsal length equal to postdorsal length; maxillary barbel slightly smaller than eye's horiz...
